SHARK WEEK IS HERE

Forty-five years after the release of Jaws, a replica of the Orca will be promoting shark conservation. At least one species, the reef shark, needs immediate help to avoid extinction. Don’t worry, the lemon shark in this photo was caught and released.

VOTES FOR WOMEN: August 18, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of ratification of the 19th Amendment.

The protests of women activists eventually secured their right to vote. Exercising that right was not easy, and the legacy of activism lives on in some families. To mark the anniversary, the Brandywine River Museum of Art is offering a virtual tour of their Votes for Women Exhibit.

Layers of Damages

Damages from natural disasters, like the wreckage left behind along the East Coast by Isaias last week, cause interruptions and income losses for businesses. A new layer of insurance claims on top of ongoing disputes is likely. A variety of businesses, including the Houston Rockets and famed restaurant Chez Panisse, are suing insurers over denials of coverage for pandemic-related interruptions.

Asterion is experienced in documenting and defending business interruption and lost income claims. If you need assistance in these matters, Asterion can help.

Investment Opportunities Still Exist

Individuals and corporations with money are in a buying mood. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, along with other investors, bought the dormant XFL. Some wealthy families are investing directly in distressed businesses. 7 Eleven purchased Speedway stores. Google acquired an interest in ADT. Blackstone is taking a 75% share in Ancestry. (Now an even bigger private equity firm owns your DNA.)

With any acquisition, it is important to understand what happens if the deal goes wrong.  If you are thinking about buying or selling a business, Asterion is available to analyze the transaction.
