Howard S. Cohen CPA, CFE, and CTP, a Managing Director of Asterion, Inc., is also a court appointed receiver and trustee in many cases. As a liquidating trustee in cases, Cohen has had funds remaining in the account after all distributions to claimants and payments of administrative costs. When Mr. Cohen is appointed in a case he has endeavored to have the plan authorized to distribute any remaining funds in the account at closing to a charity. Over the years he has made contributions to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Fox Chase Cancer Center; Jefferson Hospital, Palliative Care Serices; and Penn Medicine, Penn Wissahickon Hospice. In January of this year, Mr. Cohen closed a matter and elected to distribute the remaining funds in the case to Good Shepherd Home and specifically to the Good Shepherd Pediatric Program. Howard said, “…for many personal reasons I always favor helping the young to have the best chance of growing up and enjoying life free of pain, suffering or ailments.”
